One two-month journey through Australia is being halted days after the death of an elderly lady who was left behind by the ship on a distant island.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with shipmates from the vessel, but parted ways from the party for a pause. The liner left without her and returned later that day after the personnel became aware the passenger was missing.

A major search operation discovered her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the incident, in coordination with law enforcement and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer announced that passengers and staff on the ship were notified that the remainder of the voyage had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and earlier engine troubles".

Via official communication, he added that travelers would be given a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to organize the return journeys of the travelers via chartered flights".

Officials also published an revised communication, and said they had "provided a directive to the Master" banning any additional guests from entering the ship.

The representative said that they would visit the ship in the Australian city upon its arrival.

The offspring of the deceased woman said that her family was "stunned and grieved that the vessel left the island after an scheduled excursion without my mum".

Through her comments, she characterized her mother as an "energetic elderly person" who was a member of a walking organization.

"Based on limited information we have been told, it appears that there was a breakdown of care and basic judgment," she stated.

She continued that she wished the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the organization should have done that might have protected Mum's life".

"We understand from the authorities that it was a extremely warm day, and mum became unwell on the uphill trek," she revealed.
