Approximately 25,000 households in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the state, bringing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Large Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction

Homeowners reported giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units activated to manage the extensive power failures.

Southern State's Storm Challenges

Simultaneously, around one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in over 500 days.

State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

• The Werribee area - experienced considerable destruction
• Hoppers Crossing - numerous assistance requests
• Wyndham region - 179 calls for assistance

During the peak on yesterday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were without power.

Climate Outlook

Damp conditions were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.

Tuesday was predicted as the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both areas.

Safety Concern

Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
